Rapala Saltwater Sliver (SL13) - Review

Originally
designed to catch more tropical fish like Tuna and Wahoo
the Needlefish on which the Sliver is designed
is a cross between a Garfish and a
Sandeel / Launce. This combined with Rapala's
exceptional design makes the Sliver deadly
for Bass and other predatory species in the
UK.
As with most Rapala
jointed lures like the J13 or J11 series,
Rapala have broken the Sliver towards its
tail, helping to create vibrations which
fish seem to find irresistible.
At 17 grams the Sliver can be cast or trolled
comfortably making it perfect for the shore
or small boat angler. With a set running depth
of between 9' to 11' you need to know the ground
you're covering to avoid snags. I use them very effectively
in 15' to 25' of water or deeper.
Unlike some lures the sliver is specifically
designed for use in saltwater, the hooks rust
resistant and it will take a beating before
needing to be replaced.
I have at least 2 sliver's in my lure box every
time I go out and find myself turning to them
time and time again. If you're looking for a
reliable, deep diving lure - don't look past the sliver!
